Warm air heating is also pretty efficient because air has a low specific heat requirement.

Unfortunately, because churches usually have high ceilings its rare that the whole volume is warmed and it ends up with people only feeling warm if beside an outlet.

Like arrrfur said, Rinnai are the ones to talk to. They specialise in space heaters for churches, and told us that they only need to be turned on an hour or so before the church is used. They would also plan the installation for you I think.

Is there any Churches in Scouserland?? I thought they were all Papists??

Oh Arfurr you beat me to it
we service many churches with rinnai 10001T warm air heaters they are R.S. cold case units and will heat the church very quickly, Rinnai would do a FOC site inspection to advise on number of and location for the heaters
Drugasar also make similar units, but the Rinnai units are real quality!!
also as it is a dry system there is no worry about frozen pipes in winter etc

I've seen Ambirad gas fired radiant heaters fitted in a few churches, which seems to work well.

I can't see how UFH is a good idea for a church where it is only occupied for two or three hours a week.

The one next to me is occupied I would guess 5hours a day average.

The Church the pic I posted is open to the public 8-9 hours a day.

Ah. Many of the churches round here only have the heating on for the services, and off at all other times. I guess only the OP knows what their requirements are.
