Thanks for the useful reply agile !! not really helpful at all was it and prob from someone who cant help anyway through lack of knowledge and understanding but to answer the prior question from someone much more useful - no when i call for heat from the wall stat by turning it up absolutely nothing happens , the boiler dosnt fire up, the pump dosnt start and the mot valve appears also to do nothing

"if this baffles you then you are about as competent as a brick".

. One of your own replies to another poster hazetimesfive

To consider your question you could say what the pipes are used for and what fuel/appliance uses the chimney.

how long have you been saving that gem up for?

if you like, you can show me where I claimed competence. bell end

The breast is currently bricked up. but the customer has a view to installing a solid fuel appliance. and i dont have a ticket for that kind of shens

Is a 'bell end' a plumbing fitting? Can't find it in my PlumFix catalogue.

You can form a bell end - with a turnpin + a big hammer
