heatline condensing boilers

My friend as a heatline 24/28 condensing boiler.At the moment he as hot water but no central heating,he seems to think its the diverter vale,how do you check the diverter value is working? could it be the sensor on the primary flow?He also says he as a leak some where,he does not think its on the rads but on the pipe work coming into or out of the boiler because his units are wet at times. I will be going over on tusday to have a look but any help would be greatfull.

just to let you know that boiler i went to look at for my mate it had a split control knob for the central heating,got a new knob for the central heating and every thing is great,i told him it was very hard to fix and i got a few pints off him
