Just after some advice, we have one wall size wise its 2.6m x 2.4m its been dot n dabbed onto brick with 12.5mm plasterboard and skimmed over, the client has now decided he wants heavy slate tiles on that wall, ive suggested building 50x50mm stud wall in front of the wall and boarding that then tile staight onto that, there tiler has told them the skimmed wall will be fine and will hold the weight, there approx 28kg per m2
Do u think it would hold the weight or better to build a new stud wall
Any advice please

Hi Al.

Personally i would build the 2inch wall, that way you can get good fixings into the wall, plug and screw with 90mm screws.

The plasterboard on adhesive probably would withhold but it depends on how its been stuck ie... how much adhesive was used and was it dotted every 12inches.

I would stick with piece of mind and build the wall for the sake of 2 inches.

hope this helps bud.
