Hi

Im just trying to work out what the regs are for an extractor in a new build. Am i right in thinking that the key issue is the height the extractor manufacturers state? i thought it was 650mm minimum for electric?

Im having an induction hob and the sklock extractor says min of 500mm to underside of extractor for electric, is 500mm the standard distance from worktop to underside of wall cupboards as if it is this will work fine?

thanks

but if you mean an extractor hood, it is sensible to put it at a height you will not bash with your face when you lean over the porage pan.

it is not normal to have a cupboard or a hood 500mm above a hob.

If you mean an extractor fan, bear in mind that steam and hot air both rise, so it is sensible to have it in or close to the ceiling.

if you mean a bathroom, there are extra rules.

sorry, i meant to say, its a kitchen. The style of the kitchen means that if all the wall units arent in line it will not look right with an extractor unit door a lot higher than the rest of the wall units. I get what youre saying about the not banging your head, but my own chimney extractor is proud of my wall units so im not too concerned about that and that is directly where my forehead is. This sklock extractor doesnt stick out anywhere near as far as my own chimney so it will be more easy to use in that sense.

thanks
