hi

my cat managed to knock over a pot of turps and got her back leg covered in it. I've tried to rinse it with water, which she hated - now doesnt look very comfortable at all. She keeps tryin to lick where is was - does anyone know what i should do? will she be ok?

thanx

I suspect if she licks it she will be made ill - it is a mineral oil so poisonous. On the bottle it should say something about that.

It is somewhat irritant to the skin and I suppose the fur will keep it there, with luck it will evaporate in time but perhaps her skin is inflamed. A cat's skin will be thinner and less tough than a painter's hands.

If it was my cat I think I would ring the vet for advice.

Try burning off the excess turps. i've seen chefs do it with alcohol. ;)
