I have an heat pump system and when the air conditioning is turned on the interior part of the unit has ice building up covering the coils and what looks like an automobile radiator on the inside? The filters are all clean and air flow into and out of the unit seem fine. I have seen droplets of water coming out of the drain pipe from the inside part of the system so it looks like the drain is not clogged.

Any one have ideas of what I should look for next?

Thanks

Blocked Air Filter?
Refrigerant Charge low possible leakage from refrigerant cct
Get it Checked by an Air Conditioning Engineer

Several people on this forum say those work without any problems for at least 10 years!

Yes but they shouldn't ice up!

In my experience this will be one of the Two items listed in my previous post,
i'll add one more - Faulty or incorrectly set Expansion Valve

Sounds like a defrost cycle issue.
Chances are the unit has never been serviced and the usual result.
Failure!
But it could be something simple that a decent service engineer will diagnose in a few minutes with a site visit.

I agree with the man that said low refrigerant.

Could also be the lines are not lagged or damaged lagging.
