Help! My neighbour is building a single storey extension less than 2 metres outside my existing kitchen window. It is making my kitchen dark, sunless and depressing. To be fair, she asked us about 9 months ago if it was all right and my husband said yes, although he was gravely ill at the time and did not survive. I know I should probably have objected but our hands were more than full and I didn't want to point out that it would be me that would have the problem. I know nothing about building, but I wondered whether it might be possible to change a downstairs bedroom into a kitchen, and make the existing kitchen into a bedroom instead. It seems to me, though, that there is no foul water drainage directly into the bedroom I am thinking of.

Can anyone advise me what kind of costs would be involved in this case, and how feasible it is to change draininge? The nearest existing drain would be round a corner probably more than 2 metres away, which my initial reading tells me would not be possible to join to. Although there is space to build an extension and create a new kitchen that way, I probably will not have the money to do that. Any information would be welcome.

This work is technically possible.

But the practicalities and complexities of doing this work will be site specific and you need to get someone around to advise - a competent experienced builder (if you know one, not just someone from an advert) or architectural technician or building surveyor

If u are 2 relocate ur kitchen dis is going to cost u sm money. But,relocating ur kitchen to d downstair will also b determined by d amount of ventilation in dat place. But, if d building is casting shadow into ur kitchen, why can't u increase d illumination of ur kitchen.
