As per @EFLImpudence 's post. The cables you need to make the new light fitting work are the penultimate ones (left and right), ie the switched live and neutral. That said the perm lives need to be kept together in a separate connector. If the new light is double insulated (the packaging will have a square with a smaller square inside it) then you will need to continue to ensure that each live is in its own connector block. If it is a metal fitting that requires an earth, it might be easier to use a short earth cable to run from the aforementioned connector block down to the new light fitting.
A lot depends on the space in any "rose" that the new light fitting has. Sometimes you have to tuck the perm lives up into the cavity. One of the electricians will be able to advise which kind of enclosures would be suitable. In the old days, a lot of people used to just make a small hole and push the connector block up into the cavity.
Is there another light which works at thsame time as this one? If there is Does the existing fitting and the rest of the house's lighting work correctly as it is at the moment?
I believe that is what I see and I had to look on a second (older and supposedly much lower quality/technology) PC to see it when Stuck pointed it out.
If it is working correctly as it is, I imagine a mistake occurred during previous operation.
