Hi, I don't know whether I might have a problem with in the attic; can anyone help? So I recently purchase my first house outside of Newport, Wales back in September 15; its a semi built back in the 80's.

Now after putting the old christmas decs away I've noticed that the inside felt panels on the roof are absolutely soaking, which is gently causing drips onto everything in the attic and the exposed insulation. We've had exceptional rain here over December, I tihnk it was the wettest in history, and I don't know should I really worried. If this continues indefinitely I can see significant issues, but it won't and I would like to think the area will dry out. The insulation is also relatively new so I'm also wondering whether this might be contributing to the issue, I can't imagine its is the sole reason; the rains seems the most likely.

in a couple of weeks I can put a dehumidifer up there to try and dry it out and I can open the hatch to air the area now, but is it worth getting someone out, commisioning a damp report or speaking to our insurer? Should I be really worried?

None of the above. It's condensation caused by inadequate ventilation or the really wet weather lately. Was it wet when you got the decs out of the loft before Xmas? Or didn't you notice?

It defintely wasn't wet when the decs came down at the start of december, in fact at no point during the autumn was at all damp, which suggests the excessive december rain. Whats the best course of action?

You said you have relatively new insulation, make sure that its not pushed all the way up to the eaves and blocking air vents in soffits ect.If you have no air vents you need some.
