help to replace fire surround

hi

i have moved into a house that has a gas fire and a surround

i would like to replace the surround, back panel and hearth

my question is ----

will I be able to do this and keep the fire in place while it is being done or will i have to get the fire taken out while the surround is being put in place

???

Have the fire taken out and the pipe ends made safe by an RGI - then you can rest safely until the rest of the work is done. (Again, by someone competent who will check and sign off the final job).
