Just got home after a few days away, flushed the toilet and heard a little 'bang' - now the cistern won't stop filling :(

Any ideas?!

Take rubber out the filler but take pictures as you go.
Give it a clean and put back

Watch which way around it comes off

Does water continue to run into the pan after flushing ,and before the cistern water reaches overflow level ?
If you manually raise the float of the fill valve ,does water cease to flow into the cistern ?
Is there an isolation valve on the water supply pipe that goes to the cistern ?

YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!

Cheers Wayners!

Reckon that fix will last or worth getting a plumber to replace the insides?

Any trouble I'd replace the syphon and filler. Buy both in pack.

Turn off water with isolated valve and check filler rubber valve. Undo that nut and look. Worst case use bucket to pour down toilet until fixed

Be careful removing the flush valve, some bayonet cradles start to undo too. If flush valve and inlet float valve not damaged, why not buy washers? Inlet washer Flush valve (Optima)- other suppliers are available
