Small is not good :cry: they have trouble surviving over winter.............I had one that died .......when they were cheap/free in the 60`s.............and a massive one that`d lived wild on Ashdown Forest :eek: Better get onto RSPCA..............Modern kids and "valuable" pets don`t mix IMHO

I thought there was a ban in the uk on selling tortoises or does this only apply to imports?

Forgot to add - spent Sunday (in the rain) knocking on houses in surrounding roads to try and locate owners - but no luck - nobody knew of anyone else who might own a tortoise either. No posters up on any lamp posts.
 
you aren't allowed to trade in imported tortoises caught in the wild. I believe that in parts of Greece and Turkey they used to be as common as rabbits (easier to catch), but were harvested for the pet industry and in some areas wiped out.
