help with a steel?????

i am having a wall taken between our kitchen and dining room. its a block wall which is supporting the floor joists above but doesnt have a wall above.
i'm just wondering how the steel will go in as the wall to be taken out (on the right of the picture) is staggered and so the steel would sit on the corner/end of the wall.
as far as i'm aware it needs a pad stone which sits around 150mm to each side of the steel so how will i do this if it is on the end of the wall.
