help with fitting a new light and switch

hello.I would like to fit a light and switch in my shed .I have power in there 2 sockets 2.5 twin earth. But not sure how this is done?? Do i bring live and neutral from my sockets to the light .And then bring the live and the neurtal down to my switch??? any help would be great thanks

simplest way would be putting a fcu off of a socket, rating the fuse down and go from there to your switch, then to your light.

If you don't have a CU in the shed and just have a feed to the sockets, you need a switched fused spur, a 3A fuse, some 1.5mm² twin and earth, some 2.5mm² twin and earth, and some green + yellow sleeving,

Take the 2.5mm² cable from a suitable socket to the supply terminals of the switched fused spur (now fitted with 3A fuse). Take some 1.5mm² cable from the load terminals to the light fitting.

Remember to sleeve all bare earth conductors with the g+y sleeving.

thanks i was just going to say should i use a fused spur to bring it back down to 5 amp.so i take the live a the neutral from socket to the fused spur then from the fused spur to the light then from light to the switch

You don't need another switch - just use the switch on the fused spur. You can even get one with a pretty neon
