Help with mixer tap

My Partner just bought and installed a new thermostatic mixer tap as electric shower is rubbish so wanted to use taps, it's now installed but I don't know what the heck he has done, the temp goes either scalding or freezing no inbetween and side for water pressure seems to do opposite to what it shows? Any ideas??

Maybe the hot and cold water connections have been reversed, do you think?
Thermostatic showers need both the hot and cold feed to be at equal pressure - so for instance a tank fed hot supply and mains pressure cold just won't work......seen that before!
