Help with Rover 114 GSI leaking

Ive just purchased a S/H rover 114 GSI and after its first journey noticed the temp gauge was rising and fan was still running for awhile after switching off the engine. When I got back from shops I noticed a puddle of cold water which was dripping from the car and when I opened the bonnet the water thingy (dont know name) lid was very very hot.

Can anyone help at all?

Have a look under the bonnet first of all and report back telling us what area the water is coming from.

souind like water pump is giving up or has given up, or u could be luck and just be aloose/split water pipe can u get pics as to ware the leak is comming from>?
