I have a bath with a mixer tap and shower hose coming off it. Both the taps and shower are very infrequently used but I run the water through every few weeks. There is a spring loaded piece of metal at the base of the hose which switches it to the shower. The problem is that the water is mainly just coming through the shower and I can't shut it off to come through the bath taps. I just get a small stream through the taps (no difference with temperature). The spring appears to be working. Any ideas as to what the problem is? I thought initially there was a limescale build-up (very hard water) but I'm not sure what's going on.
