I've been asked to sort out this dog's dinner of a waste installation:

The 40mm waste pipe to the right runs from the shower...the soil pip carries WC and sink waste. As you can see the final 6" runs up hill.

The lady who's been living with what she calls constant blockages, and who bought the property with this issue, wants it sorted.

Short of digging up the paving and dropping the shower waste into the vertical soil pipe, I'm not sure what to do....a 90 elbow with a rodding point would at least let her poke a wire into any blockage, perhaps, but that's hardly a fix.

Thoughts?

How does it vent? If air can't get in water will be slow to drain - and slow water doesn't take the turds and paper along with it

Nozzle

Not a lot of choice there. Dig up that slab and drop the shower waste down and connect.

How high is the shower tray the other side?

I'd be suggesting to the homeowner that it be done properly...

Put the whole lot underground, including the horizontal soil pipe and then put in a stack with a soil vent pipe and an access collar.
You could use a Floplast external AAV and not have to go to roofline with the vent pipe.

I didn't measure it yet but its set on feet of about 4" in the bathroom.

I doubt she'll want it "done properly" or rather, she won't want to pay for that :(

Cut the 4inch flush with floor then use a DC1 GR BO.
Repipe shower waste which will now enter at floor level, put a 4inch branch in where the soil elbow was, upstand and birdcage!

"upstand" obviously terminating to above roof level...;)

LMFAO.
1st rule of plumbing ignored. water flows downhill.

if you have a jobby coming down that soil pipe with enough velocity it will shoot off the bend and embed itself into the opening of the shower waste causing a blockage.

most likely to be the uphill gradient, full of hair and grease etc. dirty job but someones got to do it.

Not always, 900 mm from opening into building and terminated above highest appliance connected to it.

I guess it's easy to omit the above information when not familiar with the location of the OP's sanitary ware.;)
