Hey everyone. Redecorating and the corners of the room have these wooden strips which stop them from being 90 degree and papering around them just isn't happening.. the paper sticks out and looks puffy, extremely annoying...

Does anyone know what they are or what they're for? I'm considering just painting them and leaving them exposed... Would that look silly?

Need help! Thank you...

Depending on wall paper colour they wouldn't look out of place painted white imho.

Have you tried taking one off?, you could pull the plaster off with it if you're not careful.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't tried taking it off for that reason- don't want to risk taking the plaster off.

I'm thinking about colouring them white like the skirting- the paper will be a lightly glittered dark grey .Would it be better to match the wallpaper colour?

I suppose if you can get a good match for the paper it would blend in better.

If you are papering the room, score the plaster with a knife, then remove them. Damage can be repaired with Easifill and sanded back. The filling process will be a bit more forgiving if you are papering over the top.

Be careful before removing them - they are probably hiding something nasty.

I see you have some trim at the top of the wall where it meets the ceiling - again possibly covering up something.

There was a trend to put cover strips over joins in pre-fab houses and the like, typically on plasterboard or fibre board, where the joins could crack.
