Hi Guys i was wiping my mums room and the paint and wall chipped off as i noticed a crack and quite a big air pocket. , how would i go about filling a chip this big its 30cm length and around 25cm width.

what can i use to repair this, the wall solid brick but assume the brown bit is plaster over, apologies i dont know much about DIY, but yeah if anyone could advice what to use to get this back in good shape thanks. the image is below.

Thanks for your help guys.

I'd go for a tub of ready mixed skimming plaster from the likes of Wickes......Polycell do a grey, fine mix which is good.
You'll also need a plasterers float or straightedge to smooth the area over in one go - and dampen the damaged area first.
John (Worlds worst plasterer bar none) :P

Thing is, if that patch came off so easily then what state is the rest of the skimmed surface in?

The backing float appears to be browning, and there are no indications of the skim ever having "stuck" to the browning.

You could do as suggested above, and wait and see, or get a plasterer in to give an opinion. Any suspicion of damp would definitely require another opinion.
