HI All we have have had a central heating system in the house for years and no issues we could select water and heating to come ON via a timer or just water or heating only, INDEPENDENTLY.

lately the burner had its annual service. After this we have had issue ..

We have a Baxi system boiler

and a control unit/ clock DANFOSS SET3E

after the service the baxi gas burner came on by itself even though the power lights were of on the danfoss set3e controller ,

this happened a few times we could tun it ofF by pulling the fuse .
so they came and checked the wires and changed the danfoss set3e controller

this happened 3 times and 3 times they installed a new danfoss controller saying they must be faulty

NOW it does Not switch on by itself any more that is good ..Phew..
but one of the other issues we have still happens and has been happening since the initial service
when we switch hot water on the radiators come on too

evn though the lights for raditors do not come on, on the danfoss 3me controller ,

so they replaced what looks live a electronic valve which is upstairs near the boiler , they said this valves makes it so we have hot water only , raditors hot only or both ,
so i guess it is a 3 way electroni valve, :)

they replaced this valve twice and we still have the same issue

selecting hot water downstairs on the danfoss set3me ,panel

it heats the radiators to0 even though we only select hot water as we can clearly feel the Rads get hot , but the leds on the danfoss set3e only show that the water is being heated ,

anyone out their any idea,>>
as the heating "specialist says he has never seen this before"

thanks..

Wiring fault

this has worked for years and hapened after the service i was there and no wires were changed,

when the Danfoss timer was replaced , it was taken of and old one put on no wires removed , it has lugs / connectors and was just screwed to the wall

when the electronic valve was changed that was after both these issues with the timer coming on itself, and water and heating coming on together So wiring does not look like a likely candidate as it has
occured.. before any thing was removed or replaced too..
otherwise i would go along with that,
i even looked in the danfoss timer to see if it had water or any kind of moisture in it but it is fine and issue occurs with brand new units too.

I wonder could it be a big faulty batch of these danfoss timers

DANFOSS SET3E
regards..

There is a gravity system link on the back of the programmer which must be removed in your application.

Might be worth checking.

when you say they changed the 3 way valve
you mean this

did they change the head or whole valve?
did they drain system?

the changes the electronic part only, i reckon that is called the head,

the danfoss electronic valve looks like this , they did not drain or bleed anything,

regarding the gravity link ,
i wonder if i can replace it if i remove it ??
"There is a gravity system link on the back of the programmer which must be removed in your application."

should the system have been bled or drained , ?
should the whole electronic part the head and the valve have been changed ,?

I recall one of the specialists saying the motor valve was not moving quite freely back and forth , while he was pushing it either way , and then they changed the electronic part again , the electronic valve has been changed 3 times , the actual body the mechanical pipe part has not been changed at all

thanks for suggestions.
it is really appreciated..

Hi SimonD i recall a small black tab i asked what it was for ,
he said oh nothing,
i guess that was the gravity system link,
nothing was doen to it

heres the question , what are GRAVITY primaries, I am not sure
thanks..

The water goes around unpumped via the HW cylinder. You haven't got that ......but the link should be removed as it will cause the HW always to be on with the CH.

You should find a different heating company.

ok so the valve has a ball in it that the head moves, when it moves accross it may not be seating corectly because of sludge or swallen ball so some of the water is getting past and in to your heating circuit aswell as HW cylinder so i would say that the valve its self needs to be replaced it has probably been doing this for a while but during the winter you wouldnt have noticed as your rads would be on anyway

youy now have 2 choices , ring the company who has been working on it already

OR

find a more competant plumber

my advice would be the later

Did u ever get to the bottom of this as my danfoss set3e timer is doing the same the burner is running even though the timer is off. I do not want to buy a new timer if this us not the fault but it sounds crazy that it can't be

Hi

I'm just curious as to whether you solved your problem. The reason I ask is I am about to replace my present programmer and this (Danfoss SET3e) was one of the replacement options I was considering.

Regards,

Benny.
