Hi

I have inherited this boiler system with the house I have just bought and after turning on the system, we now have hot water (once it had heated up in the cylinder), but the heating system won't stay on.

The system fires up, but after about 5 mins or so, it just goes off.

Any ideas?

We can't ask the previous owner as it was a re-posession.

If it is a gravity type system you'll probably find it's a stuck pump; I believe someone mentioned that there is an FAQ on how to spin a pump to get it going; but have not checked myself... So it may be worth you doing that.
