Very belated thanks to Sleepyhead for responding to my original problem (d/w just humming). My son took the d/w apart and found the wash pump motor seized up. He freed it all up and greased the bearings etc and the machine washes now but unfortunately the water is not heating up! Is this worth trying to sort out or is it time to give up gracefully?

Could be heater, thermostats, wiring or pcb/timer at fault. Not an easy one to diagnose remotely.
