He expressed opposition to the government's proposed Aliens Bill, which was designed to curb Jewish migration into Britain.[125] He stated that the bill would "appeal to insular prejudice against foreigners, to racial prejudice against Jews, and to labour prejudice against competition" and expressed himself in favour of "the old tolerant and generous practice of free entry and asylum to which this country has so long adhered and from which it has so greatly gained."[125] On 31 May 1904, he crossed the floor, defecting from the Conservatives to sit as a member of the Liberal Party in the House of Commons.[126]

Not sure about the use of words but Churchill did have some let's say straight forward views shall we say about foreigners.

In 1937, he told the Palestine Royal Commission: "I do not admit for instance, that a great wrong has been done to the Red Indians of America or the black people of Australia. I do not admit that a wrong has been done to these people by the fact that a stronger race, a higher-grade race, a more worldly wise race to put it that way, has come in and taken their place."

I believe he revised his views over time and like everyone he was full of idiosyncrasies.

But I wouldn't believe the hagiographic version pushed by the popular press.

I think brig was demonstrating that history is mostly written by the victors, and that an author can edit the facts to suit his purpose.

Presumably the bombing of Dresden, for example, was not part of the Combined Bomber Offensive, and that's why it's not mentioned.
