Hitachi Portable TV

Since last weekend I have been having some problems with the TV I have in the bedroom. When I first switch it on it is a greenish colour on the screen but after a while everything goes back to normal. The set has not been close to anything magnetic and anything on the picture that is red is red and anything green of course is green, but there isnt however anything blue. Could this therefore be a problem with the blue drive (RGB)?.

I have a C&G 6958 LEVEL 3 but not a lot of experience with TV sets.

The set is 15 years old.

Any advice appreciated.

Get a new one, its done well to last 15 years

Agreed. Just done the same for less than £50, with teletext and the picture is twice as good. Had put the last one down to poor reception, but this has the same ariel and technology moves on a pace. Less than £50 new set, more than £50 old technology gets fixed (maybe).

I agree that it's cheaper to replace that get a commercial repair.

However... if, when you say it is ok after being on a while, the blue returns, I would suspect a dry joint, possibly at the tube base or line drive.

BUT, if you don't know how to make it safe, don't even go there.
