The top of the picture is "bending", so for example if a straight line is shown on the tv, the top inch would appear to have a kink in it. The tv is 5 years old. Any ideas what could be causing it ?.
Cheers.

do you have a speaker or any other electrical item in the area as magnetic feilds can discolour or bend the picture ;)

If it is verticals that are bent ie a flagpost looks like a robin hoods bow you have a east/west geometry fault. This is a circuit on a tv chassis which corrects the natural errors in the scan of the line from left to right in the crt. It could be a simple dry joint somewere in this circuit. If so resoldering will cure, or it could be a component s/c which is quite common as this is quite a high current part of a tv chassis comparatively speaking. If the latter is the case it will require a TV technician to diagnose possibly a workshop job.

Thanks for replies.

It's not a magnetic problem - nothing in the immediate area that could interfere.

It's only the top top inch or so that is distorted, the rest of the picture is fine. But yes - it looks bowed in that inch or so.

Looks like I'll be calling out a TV repair man.

Cheers.
