HIV and HEPATITUS from the yanks

It was bad enough for people to be given infected blood, but to be given blood from the Yanks - now that is a disgrace! :D

According to the news....
The org in question were paying people for the blood so of course all & sundry lined up to get paid & here this happens you usually get the druggies etc lining up too.

and because there was a shortage of blood they failed to tell/ask where the blood came from, after all it was nothing important

Why do we have to import blood supplies in the first place?
isn't there enough donors in the UK to meet demand.

or is it not the case people just cant be bothered getting off their a**es to do their bit for our countries free NHS.

I personally think they should and I will do so ASAP ,
they'd probably contaminate the lot anyway.

so, if they said all the latest batch of blood has come from the upper classes, they should just go on ahead and pump it in without screening?

ffs.

Difficult, if effective blood screening for HIV wasn't available until the mid to late eighties.

Perhaps the problem has been solved now, it was about 20 years ago and they have buried a lot of their mistakes.

More info here (Daily Mail ...sorry)

I understand that we are now self sufficent in providing blood and don't need to buy it anymore.

Anyone who gives blood should be screened, it doesn't matter where they are or who they are.

the "mistakes" are very ill and some are still being buried,

never mind it came from the yanks.

they had blood for sale we needed it, at the time.

people wernt aware of the potential problem at the time.

screening wasnt an issue then.

hindsight is wonderful rear view mirror

I meant the problem with screening has been solved now. Yes there are still survivors but this claim is way way too late to help a lot of the victims.

Why has it taken 20 odd years to sort this out :? :(
