Hello all

Took the plunge an have gone for a Hive setup.

Boiler has a mechanical timer fitted an no other wired/ wireless stat fitted

Removed the bottom panel of the boiler an can see the main feed on the far left.

Then its currently wired as CN CI CL all of these go to the mechanical clock

I then have RN RI RL with a link between RI & RL

Does the hive go in place of the mechanical clock, or is it wired differently?

thanks

You can use either the programmer side or the stat side, if you use the programmer side leave the link on RI and RL if you use the stat side put a link on CI and CL.

Thanks for that picasso

Sorry, just double checking, so if i leave the programmer/ clock in situ - an just replace the wiring to the Hive receiver, where do the wires go on the Hive receiver?

Might sounds stupid this, but from the boiler to the receiver do I need to take power from the mains going to the boiler.

Then I dont really get where CN CI CL go on the receiver - have:

N - permanent neutral - safe to guess this is the mains connection
L - permanant live - safe to guess this is the mains connection
1 - common
2 - heating off (NC)
3 - heating on (NO)
4 - unused

thanks

Ok get rid of the timer that's wired into CN CI CL, then connect hive as follows

hive live to CL

hive neutral to CN

hive no to CI

link live to common on hive back plate.

Hi Picasso

(just checking) I need a wire from the mains Live in (to the boiler) to "Common" on the Hive back plate

Sorry for double checking I just don't want to fry anything

Yes you need a link wire from live on the back plate to common on the back plate. I don't know what you mean by "mains live in(to the boiler)"
