Hello,

I have a Hive heating reciever, thermostat and hub. The thermostat isn't able to connect to the reciever. The combi boiler is working fine in terms of delivering hot water. The reciever has no status light on it all, so can't get the hub online to get the heating back up. I have done all the available troubleshooting online and spoke to BG/Hive customer service who were useless and can't get engineer out to me for 10 days. Does anyone have any ideas or experienced this themselves?

Many thanks in advance,

Kris

Might it be anything to do with that Salus in built receiver?

All I’m thinking is if the existing wiring is via the Salus, then that could have gone kaput, then again, I could be completely wrong.

That's a good shout actually. Do you think the engineer who first installed the Hive receiver would have needed to 'disable' the Salus? I would have thought the Hive wouldn't have operated from the outset if they hadn't.

Hello, I have got this issue sorted and thought I would let you know what happened given everyone was very helpful. I got a replacement Hive reciever in the post and a BG engineer took the old one off to look at it. It turns out the reciever was blown out by some water, liquid or even a slug (!) getting in behind it. I've attached some images to show.

However, I am concerned the same thing might happen again, do you reckon some water repellent paint or sealant might be worth putting up around the new reciever?

Many thanks again, Kris

Yep, water and electric don’t mix (y) glad it’s sorted. You’d need to establish where the water got in. You could look at getting the receiver moved away from water source?

Hello, not a year after I got a new Hive receiver installed, it has stopped working again. British Gas aren't open until Wednesday. Does anyone know how to override the Hive and use the boiler to get the heating on again please? I have an Alpha ETEC 33.

No, just press it firmly, the green led should illuminate, and as long as any timer/switch for heating is on at the boiler then it should work.

Thanks again. I have just tried that and the green light isn't showing, or any other colour. There wasn't any status light when it first stopped working and I tried all the standard troubleshooting.
