Dear All, i have just fitted a Hive reciever, hub and thermostat. System took a while to gte up and running but was looking like it was working after speaking to tech support. Pairing issue. However, to our surprise our heating wasn't working, water fine. System indicates everything is ok, green lights on reciever, themostat showing all correct symbols etc, boiler fires up, no expert and heating was working well prior. So we have a lovely Hive system but a cold house, 24 hour in now and a little frustrated and cant seem to figure this one out. We have removed the original room therm and original reciever i airing cupboard next to water tank but there is still a dial near boiler (right hand side) is this where we have gone wrong? any advice will be superb...

Thanks in advance of any posts, Rich

thanks for asking flameport. To clarify, we have 1) water tank 2) timer controls both in aring cupboard. in garage we have 3) potterton boiler 4) what looks a thermostat for the boiler? e are unsure and finally 5) room therm in ffront room.

We have connected hub to broadband, hive reciever instead of no.2 following wiring diagram and removed the room thermostat with Hive thermostat, capping off wires.

im guessing we are looking at no.3 or cappinng off wires in fron room? as why weve no CH...

We have removed the original room therm and original receiver

When you did this, did you then bridge the original thermostat switching wires together to complete the circuit. If you simply removed the original thermostat but didn't do this, then the heating wiring will be 'open circuit' and the heating won't come on.

Stem, in simple terms, i dont believe i have done. Could you explain how this should be done. apologies for what is probably a very simple task.

Connect the permanent live and switched lives that went to your thermostat in the wall either where your room stat was or in the wiring centre and leave your neutral terminated safely on its own if there is one.

The original thermostat would have had at least two wires. A live and a switched live. It may also (depending upon the type of thermostat) had a neutral, and maybe an earth too. You would be able to identify which wire was which from the original thermostat wiring diagram usually printed inside it somewhere.

The old thermostat cable should have been traced back to its origin (ie the opposite end to the thermostat) and the live and switched live wires removed from their terminals and a link fitted to join where they had just been removed from together to complete the circuit. The Neutral and earth if present are just disconnected.

Unfortunately without more specific information about the original thermostat and the wires that were connected to it is not possible to give any more details.
