I have an oil boiler, with a hot water tank and central heating. Running a Honeywell Programmer and a Danfloss Rf Thermostat.

Can I easily change the Honeywell for a Hive unit? Do I just remove the Danfloss?

Pictures below of the Honeywell wiring.

Thank you in advance for any help.

The wiring going to the Honeywell programmer moves to the terminals at the Hive (Dual Channel Version) that have the same function, and as you have figured they are the same.

The Danfoss Rf Thermostat also needs to be decommissioned otherwise it may interfere with the operation of the Hive, it can't just be disconnected otherwise the heating wiring would become permanently 'open circuit' and the heating would not operate.

Decommissioning is done by finding the origin of the thermostat cable, disconnecting it completely and then inserting a link between the terminals where the two thermostat live switching wires have just been removed from, so that they are electrically connected in order to complete the circuit.

Hi Stem

Thank you so much for your quick and clear response. I have just taken a photo of the wires that sit directly beneath the Danfloss RX1, the white cable is going up to that unit, the second photo is the wires behind the Danfloss,? is it possible to tell me which wires will need to be connected? I can see how to disconnect it, just not which ones need connecting?

Thanks again.

The wires in terminals 2 & 3 are the switching wires. (Green/yellow with brown sleeve & Black wires) Find the other end of these wires and disconnect them at their origin, then inset a wire link between the terminals that you have removed the two wires from so that they are now permanently connected.

You can then also remove the Brown and Blue N & L wires and remove the complete cable.
