You are joking right? If any private company was as disorganised, mismanaged and down right useless as the tax office it would go teets up in a heart beat. I have never ever experienced the level of pure brainless moronic sloth that HMRC can muster. Wake up mate. It's common knowledge.

I repeat that you're living in cloud cuckoo land. You assume that based on your own anecdotal evidence, HMRC is inefficient and useless. Based on my own experiences, the same could be said about every single private company I've ever had dealings with from supermarket to telecomms to contractors to private security companies to garages to railways to buses to... etc etc etc.
