I am having trouble keeping the 6mm cable in the connectors of the base of a hob - the screw mechanism won't hold-my electrician suggested using a single core wire - is there such thing as single core 6mm.
the only thing I have found in 2.5mm special heat protected wire for hobs which has a higher rating

Do not really understand the problem, is the weight of the cable pulling the core out of the terminations or are the screws coming loose. A cable clamp should resolve the former & a crimped ferrule the latter.

Really it is a design fault of this Ikea Induction Hob -even with the cable clamp in position - it is difficult to get the wires to hold - even after you think they have been screwed in tight you can work them loose.

My electrician(friend) felt a single core cable would be easier to clamp into position better - he mentioned a single core 6mm cable but I can't find one.

Does it exist - I bought the 2.5 mm 3 core heat resistant flex cable (25 amp) but a bit worried to use.

My induction hob came with 1m of cable attached but my oven did not. Would it not be easier to deliver even hard wired appiances with a couple of meters of the correct flex/cable?

It's all down to cost ,they even save 10pence on each washer by removeing the wheels at the back and putting feet on them ,does wonders for the lino when it's ripped loads of claims for a complete lino
