I'm planning to put a hole through kitchen wall for a vent for a tumble dryer. The hole will be between 4" and 6" diameter and I've got some time so is there any drawback with using a standard masonry bit and drilling round the diameter then chiselling out rest or am I going to be much better off hiring a core drill & bit (if so, roughly what should I look to pay for a day)?

Thanks as always for advice...

If you want a nice neat and tidy job hire the core drill, if you start to do it the other way you will wish you had not but it will be too late £25ish I guess to hire
