Homelite HHT2655 petrol hedge trimmer

I have one of these 5 years old now, no problems with it.

But do I need to remove gearbox plate and check if it needs re-greasing ?

I ask the one ( not Homelite) I had before had a grease nipple so you could give it a pump of grease.

It's always a good idea to grease the internals of tools like this......often there is a blanking plug on the sole plate where a grease nipple can be screwed in.
Some machines (stihl, Husqvarna) have a plug where the grease tube can be screwed into - which isn't a bad idea.
If you intend to dismantle the thing, do take care as there are needle roller bearings inside which aren't captive.
