Use the wiring in the first picture if you have the default settings on the G2 series panel (double balanced. 1k closed 2k open).

Why take the/a (-) Neg from the Circuit connections, the correct place would/should be from the Aux - (next to the Aux +)

In electrical terms, it doesn't really matter. It all ends up connected to the same copper on the circuit board. There's no isolation between sensor gnd and aux gnd. It's just one big ground plane.

That's as may be, perhaps the manufacturer should be told this, then they could save a few pennies (yes, I can remember them).

Very untidy way to do things is what I was getting at.
