Hey everyone,

New to the forum, have been looking around on the net for a week now for a pin-out of the power supply for the Honeywell Galaxy Classic PSU.

Basically mine has died and needs replacing, however I can't find a replacement part anywhere !

If anyone knows where to get a new one or the pin-out of the panel I would greatly appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance,

Alex.

Which one?
There are many "Classics".

Some have AC into PCB some DC.

And Fleabay will get you a old 8/18/60

Hey Alarm,

Thanks for the speedy reply,
Sorry I should have put some more details into my original post,
It's a classic 500 pcb with the 6 pin jumper lead from psu to the control pcb.
So it's most definitely DC to the board.

Can always power the main panel directly by fitting a smart Rio in place of the PSU section of the panel. Connect between S1 on Smart Rio and S1 on main panel, and do away with the 6pin header plug and the PSU completely.

Just be aware you'll need to have a spare rio address(on LINE 1) and I think you also need to move any wiring from LINE 1 AB onto the new Rio AB terminals.

Hey jibbeh,

Just tried s1 - s1, no luck, is it possible that when the psu died it damaged the control board ?

Thanks,
Alex.

Always possible I suppose. Whats your actual problem and how did you come to think it was the PSU that was the fault?

Well the problem is that there is no power getting to the keypads and PIRs so at first I thought that it was a fuse, but after checking the fuses they're all ok, so that left the psu itself, but after trying your s1 - s1 trick, and putting the keypad on the rio supply, still nothing...

Thinking a dead panel at the moment :(

Indulge me, how did you check the fuses?

Using a multimeter...
Two fuses on the psu itself, one fuse in the AC supply terminal, one in the fused spur ?

Correct ? Unless there's one I've missed ?

Alex.

I only asked because there are none on the panel PCB, trick question you see.

Keypad doesn't power up at all even from the Rio? Or you just get the row of **************** on it? Should be aware you cant power up a SMART RIO from battery it has to be from mains through the transformer (not 100% true), and the 4 pin lead isnt straight through pin to pin. Looking at mine here the pins are reversed as below so you may need to check that A goes to A, B to B etc etc

12v--------------B
0v --------------A
A --------------0v
B --------------12

Make sure its NOT like this on the 4 pin lead.

Any LED's on anything anywhere, panel, psu, Rio etc? Does it do anything at all when you power up? The old PSU, is it the one with the coil soldered onto the board or is it seperate and wired in? Can you check the voltage coming out of the coil to see if thats where the problem lies? (240v is present warning etc )

Hey Jibbeh,

Yeah the keypad is turning on and displaying ********* and the rio has the green power led on as well as the red communication light.

Tried connecting the rio to the panel with a straight through 1 - 1/2 - 2 cable but the keypad doesn't change, and the rio isn't picking it up either...

Testing the output of the coil shows 13.2, quite high ?
So that would mean that the psu control board has problems ?

Cheers,

Alex.

A line of *********s on the RKP
= No Communication on A B Line, possibly faulty PCB

Yeah that's what I've been thinking.

Got my eye on a new psu, so will try that, if not, looks like i'm going to be getting a new panel!

Alex.
