Hi,
Had a standard boiler, not a combi, fitted with it's controls over 15 years ago. Boiler make is ideal icos he15. Have a service plan in place. They fitted a honeywell hcw80 room thermostat and receiver. Over a month ago it stopped responding. When I turn the dial the red led light did not flicker when it went past the room temperature. I replaced the battery. No response. The next day I just turned the dial and it responded. Great he says.
Now a few days ago it stopped responding again. I have changed the batteries twice, left it for a few days and no response. Left it for a few hours without the batteries and then after putting the batteries back in and waiting for a while there was no response.
The receiver upstairs, which I think is honeywell R6660D shows a solid red light.
From my research I read that these hcw80 unit lasts up to 15 years.
Question i have is my honeywell hcw80 dead or does it need to be reset or paired with the receiver again? I read there is a button on both units you can press for pairing.
If it's dead is there a direct replacement for the honeywell hcw80 so I don't need to replace the receiver? From my research they no longer supply hcw80 new, plenty of used ones on certain websites.
If there is no replacement what kit do you recommend to replace the hcw80 and its receiver and who is the best company in Nottingham to ask to fit it if the service plan company will not replace the hcw80 due to its age?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I thought I had answer this, but my reply seems to have gone. That old thermostat is suited to an on/off boiler, but very expensive, and obsolete, so can only get a second hand one, so likely better to replace with a modern smart thermostat, I say smart, as that means two-way communications, so less likely to have problems with loss of signal causing the boiler to stay on, the one you have would auto close down with no signal after ½ hour, and used a mark/space ratio to reduce hysteresis, great with the boiler you have, but will upset a modern modulating boiler, which is likely why no longer made.

I use Drayton Wiser, but there are others, Hive, Tado, Honeywell etc. Who also make wireless thermostats. My wiser can be desk used, so can move it room to room, it can connect the TRV heads, and has so many ways it can be configured it seems unlikely there is a system it would not work with. But many thermostats are suited for one type of system, and work well for one household, in one home, but are rather lacking in others. I also have Nest Gen 3, which my son recommended, and it seems works well in his house, but was rubbish in mine.
