Horizontal feather edge board fence

Is this an acceptable way to use these boards or would the water pool too much on the back and cause the fence to rot quicker than if they were mounted vertically?

I couldn't find much info on it at all...

They are used on cheaper sheds, the problem is more with warping than water getting in.

With fencing the water would get between the laps.
