    Hi guys.

just after a bit of advice. I am a plumber just not massively knowledgable when it comes to boilers. I’ve got CH but haven’t got any hot water. Initial thought was diverter valve. I have replaced it along with the Motorhead and still haven’t got any hot water. CH still works fine but when opening the hot water tap the boiler doesn’t kick in and the light doesn’t come on.

    thanks guys

    Hall effect sensor is suspect.

Worth checking the wiring to it / from the PCB hasn't been disturbed whilst you worked on the DV ,just in case !!

When you run a hot tap, does the small red neon on the hall effect sensor light up solid ? does it flash or flicker ?

I haven’t even checked this mate. I don’t really work on boilers so haven’t got the best knowledge. If it flashes there’s an issue and if it’s solid it’s fine, right? I’ve managed to dig out the fault finding manual. If it’s flashing I’m best to check the filter in the mains assembly and then check the magnetic detector. If all that’s well then the Hall effect sensor has gone. I’m gonna have a look first thing in the morning.

you just remove the front cover and look at it with the HW running , should be solid red if flashing or flickering usually the turbine, you can try putting a magnet on the Hall effect sensor and see if it lights up, if it does and brings the boiler on then it is the turbine, that is how a hall effect sensor works the turbine has magnets and when it spins the Sensor picks up that it is turning

its 100% the flow turbine. Don’t get any lights when hot tap opens. Put a magnet to hall effect sensor and hot water kicks in. Just can’t get the thing out!!

Yes thought it would be, they can be a real pain to get out, best to use a ring spanner 18mm I think but not really sure, shoulder against the boiler to stop it moving and some weetabix

Your not wrong. What a pain! I’ve got 17mm and 19mm ‍♂️ Been messing with it this morning but I need an 18mm ring spanner like you say. I’ll have to pick one up because otherwise it ain’t budging.

Do you have a socket set with an 18mm socket ? have in the past used my blow torch on the hydro block body and the turbine came out

I haven’t unfortunately no. Seem to have every size but. Was gonna use the blow torch but I’ve no gas left. Tend to use crimp fittings with work these days.
