Hi, I am in the process of buying a converted victorian property and the survey has revealed the hot water tank has been installed lying on its side in the roof space.
My questions are Is this common practice? Should I be concerned ?
Any advice appreciated... :?

There were such things as Horizontal cylinders. They are expensive and rubbish.

Poor reheat times and even worse performance.

Often cowboys would fit a normal one on its side and pretend it was a proper horizontal cylinder.

These worked even worse.

If you are definitely going to by the property, do so with a view to changing the system.
