hot water works but central heating doesnt

hi!

im a newboy here so please be gentle!

i recently had to drain my hot water system ...
when i went to use the hot water again it wasnt
heating up to managed to get rid of an airlock
and it was fine ...

however, i went back to use the central heating
and it refuses to come on ... it was working
perfectly well before and to my knowledge
i havent changed anything and not put it back
as it was before ...

i know that people reading this will probably want
details that i havent written and i would be very
grateful if anyone would take the time to read
what ive said and ask me any questions about my
equipment ...

curiously i checked it again (after having spent
much of the previous evening doing the same)
and found that it worked perfectly ...
there may be something in the switch between
water only and water / heating ... ill keep my
eye on it! at least i didnt pay someone to come
out, eh?
