Hi,

My brother has experienced a couple of problems with his Hotpoint washing machine.
Firstly, the spin cycle failed to empty the machine and water flooded out of the detergent drawer. Reading previous postings solved the problem, a sock and £1.20 in change was blocking the pipe next to the pump (thanks breezer).

However, now this is fixed, the machine keeps filling with water until it pours out of the detergent drawer. I have narrowed the fault to either one of the two water inlet valves or a problem with the pressure sensor switch.
(There is foam present in the tube to the pressure switch - is this normal?)

What's the best way to find the culprit?

Many thanks,

Paul.

Clean out the pipe and pressure bottle completly. Then blow up the pipe and listen for a click from the pressure switch. Nip the pipe between your fingers and hold it there for a few mins. Listen carefully for any clicks from the sensor that would suggest a leaking pipe. When you let go you should hear a click as the pressure is released. If this all works then you may have a problem elsewhere. There should be nothing in the pipe / bulb other than air and cleanish water.
