Hi, had this washing machine for about 3 years, up until now with no problems. Recently it's started to make a terrible grinding and screeching noise when it goes through its cycle, seems to be when it's changing cycles. We have been moving it about a bit recently as we've been doing up our kitchen.

Has anyone got any ideas for a cheap fix?????

Many thanks

Jon

spin the drum by hand, does it make a rumbling noise at the rear centre?

lift up the front edge of the inner drum, does it move up and down at all ?

if so bearings are gone or possibly the drum support (dont know if yours is internal or external) so how good are you at diy/mechanical work.

Another possibility is that something is caught between the inner and outer drum which can be awkward to locate. The normal place is trapped between the two front edges of the drums (could be coins, clothing, combs, spoons I have found all sorts) normally the drum will be a bit stiff to turn with this though.
Remove the sump hose or lifters and look through with a torch and see if you can see anything
