Hotpoint Frost Free Fridge & Freezer Warm - Timer Maybe

My Parents have a Hotpoint Mistral FF60, If the fridge & freezer is warm.
Ice cream is not hard
They have thermometers in both compartments

Freezer is reading -15
Fridge is reading +10 ......... fridge setting is turned up to number 8 with 9 being max

I believe this model of Fridge/freezer has separate Thermostats for Fridge & Freezer, leading us to believe the Thermostat/s are OK
Does this sound like a timer problem maybe ?

90% of first time problems with frost free fridge freezers are cured by doing a full defrost.

Un-plug for at least 24 hours, check the evaporator tray above the compressor does not overflow while it is defrosting.

Clean out the channels if you can see them in the freezer compartment.

We have done a full defrost, we left it for 24 hours and switched back on etc
A day or so later we checked the drainage channels in the freezer and they were blocked solid with ice (never defrosted properly the first time), we got a hair dryer on it and defrosted properly - we are 100% certain now that it has had a full defrost and drainage channels are clear.
