Any advice will be appreciated.
My hotpoint hvl241 started today during wash taking water in then stop then start then stop.Initially did not pay much attention but later when it reached the spin cycle stopped and the quick wash light was flashing for a long time. Drum is empty of water as the machine can pump out well but clothes are soaking wet.Drum observed rotating well during rinse.
Any ideas?

The machine is showing a motor fault. Specifically motor jammed or no tacho pulse from the motor. The tacho is part of the motor. It sends an electrical pulse back to the main circuit board. The board stopped seing a pulse. The motor brushes which transfer electricity to the middle part of the motor may be wearing out. They go a bit intermittent (work one minute then not the next) when they are getting low. Eventually when they wearout the mmotor no longer turns. Hotpoint can fix this for 110 pound.
