I need to replace the grill element in our Hotpoint oven and have bought the correct element.

However, in order to remove the old element, there appears to be two retaining screws - they look alomst like grub screws.

Anyone any idea how best to remove them?

Some of these are screwed in from inside the cavity others from behind the rear plate.
Are you looking at the bottom end on the screws?

leccy758 - didn't think of that! it does look like the bottom end of the screws.

how do I get at them - slide the oven out of the cabinet?

the model is Hotpoint ST87X

Remove rear cover on oven to change grill element

If it is a built in oven then it should be held into the cabinet with 2 or 4 screws, remove these (some kitchen fitters do not put them in) and slide the oven out ensuring the power is off first.
