hotpoint wma54 fault

Hi

I hope you can help.

my hotpoint wma 54 has the following intermitant faults.

1,when spinning you can hear whats sound like a metalic noise as if the drum is catching on something, but it finishes the cycle until the end okay. it only makes this noise on the spin cycle nothing can be heard on wash, our when spinning the drum when empty

OR
2, the program stops mid cycle with all the indicater lights (except door lock) chasing as if Xmas lights.

it can also run normally

i have checked the pump and all is clear and pumping out ok its just this intermitant noice and program stop with chasing lights. its goes this loaded or empty

any assistance would be appreciated

lights, no idea.

noise is a coin / washer (fom a pocket) tip the m/c back and shake it (seriosly) but do be careful it is heavy, this should shake it into the filter at the back.

it MAY be the heater, but i hope not

well seems like it knacked.

now starts a program, fills up and that as far at it goes

new machine or worth repairing

how old is the m/c?

under 5, get HP to fix it (yes they can)

over 5, wave it good bye

must have a timer fitted 5 years 6 weeks old

well I got the local man who can in. Brushes gone on the motor, 30 mins later all working fine
