Washer door lock light flashing. Changed door lock switch but washer still thinks door isnt shut. Took main control board out looks like some soot on some of the components. Is there a common fault with components on the board that i can replace them?

Thanks

Great thanks for that i thought it would be a control board fault. I would be interrested to know how the motor brushes affect the door switch operation

It breaks the neutral connection to the door . Very common just remove them as see how low they are.

Ok will do, thanks again for your help much appreciated.

Took motor off and brushes seem fine about inch and half or more left on them. Stuck now as to what to do next

Clean the armature up then put brushes back on. Was the wiring block burnt at the door lock end when you replaced the lock

Cleaned up motor and filed ends of brushes a little bit. Put it on spin and it worked. Then part way through door switch clicked a few times and the red light started flashing. Again pressed start and it worked and same again happened.

Didnt see any burning on door switch connector.

Motor winding has had it. New motor needed.

Yet a few years ago this converstion occurred

The door lock light on my Hotpoint WML540 washing machine started flashing this morning.
The machine will not do anything.
It is only 18 months old!

Remove rear white cover and refit the connections on the pcb. It's in the corner with a white cover on it

Thankyou so much.
I wiggled all the connections and its working a treat.

What causes that. And will it happen again?

Yes a good chance it's crap wiring on the connector block. Vibrations causes it to come loose. tie a cable tie round the block and pcb to hold it tight.

I have to say that it would be a very strange design if a Door Lock switch fails due to a faulty motor. ( unless the motor is part of the door locking mechanism )
